Historical Trophies

The Ballingall Trophy

This was presented to the Balgonie Colliery Bowling Club by Neil Ballingall, factor to the Balfours, for annual competition 1914 and is the oldest trophy held by the Club. It is still strongly contested up to the present day.

The H.L.I. Trophy

On the 25th October 1914, the military took possession of the Clubhouse and remained there over winter until the 8th May 1915. As a gesture of thanks to the village, a trophy was presented to the people of the Coaltown of Balgonie by the Officers, N.C.O's and men of the 1st / 6th Highland Light Infantry

The trophy was originally used by the bowling club, but over the years, it has been used for competition for other sports in the village. Since the early 50’s it has been solely used by the bowling club.
